Lighting Efficiency - BlueLinx Corp
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, BlueLinx Corporation, is a leading distributor of building products in North America. The company operates its distribution business from sales centers in Atlanta and Denver, and its network of more than 70 warehouses. Looking for ways to cut operating expenses, BlueLinx turned to Greenspeed Energy to reduce their power bills by designing and implementing portfolio wide efficiency upgrades The project reduced the Company’s electrical bills by 40-58%! In addition to lower power bills, BlueLinx will realizes substantial savings in the form of lower future maintenance costs.

Energy Savings
The new fluorescent system uses only 148 watts, as compared to the 460 watts per fixture for the existing system; approximately 50% reduction of electrical demand. With the use of occupancy sensor based controls, Greenspeed further lowered the operating hours of the system generating additional kWh savings.

Key Benefits
Colors are truer and visual acuity is better; eliminated the annoying ballasts hum of the older lights. New HI-Low exterior lighting system provides low level security lighting when not occupied, and automatically switches to HI levels when people and/or vehicles are present.

Sustainability - Environmental Benefits
The project energy savings results in an equivalent of reducing 1,300 tons of CO₂, or can be viewed as the equivalent of planting 1,100 acres of trees, removing over 550 cars from our roadways or reducing the use of 360,0000 gallons of gasoline.
